Cab driver's sharp reflex saves woman who tried to jump off Mumbai bridge
A woman who tried to jump off the towering Mumbai Trans Harbour Link, also known as the Atal Setu, was saved by a cab driver and cops on Friday. Just as the sea seemed ready to claim her, they pulled her back from the brink of tragedy. The dramatic rescue was captured on CCTV.
The police have identified the woman as 56-year-old Reema Mukesh Patel, who is a resident of Mulund.
In the video, the woman can be seen sitting on the edge of the Atal Setu's safety barrier. With a solemn resolve, she tosses an unknown object into the churning sea below. In a heart-stopping moment, the driver, acting swiftly, catches her just before she jumps off the bridge.
The scene unfolds further as a patrolling vehicle comes to a halt, its lights flashing as it rushes to assist. A tense minute of high-stakes rescue follows, with four cops, Lalit Shirshat, Kiran Matre, Yash Sonavane, and Mayur Patil, along with the cab driver, working in unison to pull her back from the brink. The combined efforts of the rescuers culminate in a dramatic save, pulling the woman to safety and averting a tragic outcome.
“After police was alerted about her presence, a patrolling vehicle rushed to the spot. When the police approached her, she lost balance and was about to plunge into the sea. But a cab driver and the traffic police personnel held her just in time and managed to save her,” a police official stated,
